Sharing the extraordinary things God has done in our lives.

I peeked behind the curtain, what did I see…?

Bilderbergers, Illuminati, FEMA Camps. Race-baiting, Illegal Immigration, NSA, FBI, CIA. Global Warming, Climate Change, gas prices, N1H1 flu, Ebola. Homeland Security, Benghazi, riots, IRS, GMOs, suicide bombings. Sharia Law, and the welfare state. White Privilege, Agenda 21, Common Core, child sex trafficking, Income inequity. Covid epidemic, WOKE-ism, World Economic Forum, Democratic Socialism, Antifa, LGBTQ-XYZ, Drag Queens. Precious little “Snowflakes offended by everything, afraid of their own shadows, the dumbing down of America. Schools don’t teach, they indoctrinate. Blah, blah, blah.

I peeked behind the curtain and they are all there and more. The world is out to get us. Our government is out to get us. We are out to get each other. The Supreme Court is interpreting the intent of the Constitution through the spectacles of today’s warped self-indulgent, self-centered, narcissistic culture instead of enforcing it as a brilliant, unchangeable, divinely inspired document.

I found more articles, videos, and “conspiracy” information every day. I spent months grieving over all the stuff that was happening. Most was so beyond my ability to comprehend – this much evil everywhere, that I became obsessed. I was becoming depressed; I was turning into a different person.

We are pushed, herded from one crisis to another, headline by headline – constantly kept off-balance. We race to put out one brush fire after another. No sooner extinguishing one as two more are lit. They want us tired, numbed by being in a constant state of crisis and anxiety with no end in sight. They want to wear us down, make us surrender. To give in and give up.

I grew up in a time when people were “nice.” They looked out for each other. We left our doors unlocked and kids played outside until – “the streetlights come on.” We were patriots. America was a melting pot of cultures. It didn’t matter where you came from; you embraced your new country. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, were equally accepted and no one was offended. Don’t like either one? Make up your own holiday, just don’t do it in the month of December, it’s already taken. We were Americans first. Our heritage came second. Don’t forget where you came from, but don’t forget the reason you came here.

Bill Whittle, a genius conservative political commentator, recently explained what makes this country better than every other country in the world in spite of our current problems. He summed it up in one short sentence. “Every good thing that has ever happened in this world is a direct result of Christian beliefs.”

It’s that simple. Even if one doesn’t believe in the God of the bible, the message is sound and irrefutable. Christianity is founded on the premise that we all are of infinite value because we were created by God. All other non-Christian political systems produce the same result. Millions of dead, dirt poor or starving citizens, scraping by trying to exist with no hope for a better future. Look at China under the emperors and Mao Zedong; Germany – Hitler; Cambodia – Pol Pot; Uganda – Idi Amin; Russia – Stalin and Lenin; Italy – Mussolini; South America – Hugo Chavez, Drug Lords, Che Guevara; Cuba – Castro; Iran, Syria, and Iraq – Saddam Hussein; North Korea – Kim Jong Un and Kim Jong II. The list goes on and on. Their people are merely pawns, human machines used by the “State” to produce something until they’re worn out and replaced, killed, or starved to death when their usefulness has expired.

After much pondering, I came to the realization that I can do nothing about the big picture. It may be in my Sphere of Concern but not in my Sphere of Influence. I cannot control anyone but myself. I cannot change anyone’s belief at the point of a gun. I could try to exterminate every person on the planet who doesn’t agree with me, but we’ve seen how well that works… “Communism is always just one more execution away from Utopia.”

I stopped watching the propaganda disguised as nightly news. I asked friends to stop sending me articles and videos of yet one more “whatever.” A steady diet of this stuff will make you crazy. How many “one more example” does one need to understand what is going on?

We are told to “Know your enemy.” Ok, I know who the enemy is, and it is none of those I mentioned above, nor their ancestors, or any future despot. We have one single enemy, and he has been out to destroy us since the beginning of time. It is the angel Lucifer – Satan, the devil himself. I understand his agenda, and I know how to defeat him. In 1 Peter 5:7 we are told to, Cast all your anxiety on Him, (God) because He cares for you. (8) Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (9) But resist him, firm in your faith.

Because of that I am a happy, content man again. I am not stressed out, sleepless, or depressed by all the junk going on around me. Philippians 4:7tells us: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (7) And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Does that mean I’ve dropped out? Not hardly. But my battles are now local. I vote when it’s time and work one-on-one to enlighten others as to what is really going on once you look past all the smoke and mirrors, lies and propaganda. Once you peek behind the curtain.

So, I ask again, what can we do??? We can love people into a trusting relationship. Then we can have meaningful dialog and share the reason for our joy and peace that surpasses all understanding in this crazy, evil, narcissistic, self-centered, I’ve got mine screw you, “I’m offended by everything” society.

Twelve fishermen with a simple message changed the world. (16) ”For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (17)”For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.… John 3:16-17

God loves all of us. We are all His creation, and He gave us the right, the privilege, the opportunity to be adopted into His family as one of his sons or daughters. Everyone wants to get into heaven, but you need a reservation. Ask Jesus, – he won’t turn you down!

So, to answer the question, “What can we do???” Pray – prayer is the answer. Pray for this country and its leaders. All of them, especially the ones you don’t like. We can’t win this battle. It’s bigger than all of us, but not for God. God can change anyone’s heart. Look what He did to Saul. Saul hunted down Christians and jailed or killed them until God had a little talk with him. No matter what we’ve done God will still accept us if we surrender.

2 Chronicles 7:14 – This is how we win.

14 If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (Only God can do this)
